Short Bio

Dr. Peer Ghulam Nabi Suhail assumed the charge of Mission Director Jammu and Kashmir Skill Development Mission Society in September 2017. A Beijing-educated international development and policy expert, Suhail has 14 years of management, development pactice, research, policy analysis, teaching and training , experience in India and abroad. He has earned his PhD in Development Studies, Masters of Public Policy in International Development, and a Masters in Indian History. His scholarly work includes, but not limited to, projects and publications on political economy of development, agrarian political economy, governing globalization, land and water politics, microfinance, disaster and development and third sector governance. He has published in reputed regional, national and international academic journals, magazines and newspapers, and has presented papers on numerous conferences in and outside India. He is the author of the book “Pieces of Earth” published by Oxford University Press. Suhail is also the editor of a book “Breaking Mazes; an anthology of KehwaTalks on Kashmir”.

In 2008 Suhail founded Kashmir’s first, and so far, the only, Public Policy think-tank Centre for Research and Development Policy (CRDP). He has been hosting and moderating first-of-its kind a popular lecture and interaction series KehwaTalks, since December 2014 and has previously, successfully, organized a discussion platform Kashmir Social Entrepreneurship Circle (KSEC)-2006-2008. Suhail has featured as an expert in many news channels and radio programs, such as CNN IBN, New Nation, ETV, DD News, 92.7 Big FM etc., besides being cited and quoted by other national and international newscasts such as BBC, Aljazeera, The Guardian, The Indian Express, The Tribune, The Hindu, Outlook, Hindustan Times, India Today, Deccan Herald, DNA India, Mail Today, ozy.com, Dawn, Asian News Network, thethirdpole.net, Catch News, Scroll. in, First Post, Greater Kashmir, Rising Kashmir, Kashmir Life, Kashmir Reader, Kashmir Scan, Kashmir Observer.
